Purpose of The Nature Conservancy

The Nature Conservancy's mission is the preservation of animals, plants and natural communities that are representative of Earth's diversity of life through the protection of the waters and lands that are needed for survival.

The Conservancy's mission is achieved through their diverse staff and their dedicated efforts to safeguard the environment. The staff includes over 550 scientists that are located in more than 50 states and in over 33 countries. Also helping them to accomplish their mission are the myriad of partners they have from individuals to corporations and governments to other non-profits institutions.

The Nature Conservancy has been able to accomplish advancement of conservation around the world more than any other organization since its beginning in 1951, mainly because of the help from various other organizations.

The vision for the future of the Conservancy is to leave for future generations a sustainable world. The challenges faced by nature today are unprecedented, with the rapid dwindling of natural resources, shrinking economies, changing climates and other threats that requires immediate action. Therefore, the Nature Conservancy works with its partners to fulfill their mission of maintaining a sustainable world and give it to the next generation. They constantly come up with innovative ways to ensure nature is able to continue providing clean water, food, energy and other needs that the constantly growing population of the world depends upon for survival.

The Nature Conservatory's latest mission is to change the minds of world leaders, business leaders and the majority of the general public in order to move conservation from the back burner of priorities on a global level to the center of the world stage. This is because our human survival and development depends upon a diverse and healthy environment.

Working with its partners around the world the Nature Conservatory is slowing showing the world how important healthy and diverse environments are to the wellbeing of the world's population.
